Hiatus...

Time for some gut level honesty and a reality check.

Need to spend less time externalizing ideals, judgments and illusion and more time living in authenticity through surrender.

In the words of Brueggemann, it is time to "nurture, nourish, and evoke a consciousness and perception alternative to the consciousness and perception of the dominant culture around us" which is, in his words, the royal consciousness that seeks to numb us.

As Moses freed the Israelites from the royal religion of Egypt, as the prophets sought to awaken the Israelites again from their slumber under Solomon's royal religion, so to do we today, and in every age, need to be aware of the Church today as it is so often part and parcel of the royal religion of Empire which continues to keep us numb.

The reading list:

The Powers That Be: Walter Wink

The Prophetic Imagination: Walter Brueggemann

The Politics of Jesus: John Yoder

How to Read the Bible: James Kugel

And, of course, The Bible, NASB version.

See ya' soon...
